Description
Once everyone is on board we drive towards Vilafor, one of the highest towns in Spain located at 1414 metres above sea level. Vilaflor is a little gem, with the classic wooden balconies of the Colonial architecture, and home of the first Canarian Saint, Hermano Pedro de San Jose' de Bethencourt. In Vilaflor we have time to see the Church dedicated to him and the lovely Town Hall square. We will also have a tasty coffee with local homemade biscuits. Next stop is only 5 minutes away. “Pino Gordo” is an amazing Canarian Pine tree 45 metres tall, considered to be between 700 and 800 years old. We then continue on the scenic road of Teide National Park. Once we reach the base of Mount Teide, you can visit the Cañada Blanca Visitor Centre. From there we walk through Roques de Garcia an iconic rock formation which has withstood 200.000 years of erosion. We also walk part of path number 3, a beautiful stroll of stunning views, witnessing the force of nature. Leaving Teide National Park, we drive along the scenic western road over the sea of clouds. Once in Santiago del Teide we stop for a little refreshment in a local traditional cafetería with tasty food, like back in the days. Ready for the Masca road. The six kms of tiny, winding roads and amazing views of the valley are a true experience. Masca is magic! Lush vegetation and palm trees fill the walking paths. One of the most beautiful valleys of the island. Every step a photo! Driving back along the Masca road, if we have time and it is not dark already, we stop at the Mirador de Archipenque. An ideal place to view the spectacular Los Gigantes cliffs.Includes
