Local Picks - Accommodation in Tenerife

Every place you'll find here has been carefully chosen by our Tenerife Local Expert team, the ones who live and breathe this island every day. It's not about who spends more on advertising or what an algorithm thinks is popular. These picks reflect real local knowledge and experience, updated regularly to keep things relevant.

Expect honest insights about spots across Tenerife, from La Laguna's charming streets to the quieter corners of the north coast. Our locals know what makes a stay comfortable whether you come in cooler winter months or during the bustling summer. If you want a genuine recommendation, try staying in the buzzing Plaza del Charco area in Puerto de la Cruz outside the peak high season, the vibe changes and you’ll see why locals still appreciate it. These are places locals would actually choose to sleep in or recommend to close friends.

Local stay tip

If you’re visiting Tenerife in spring or autumn, avoid the peak tourist areas right at the coast during weekends. Instead, try the La Orotava area up north. Locals love it for the cooler temperatures and the peaceful atmosphere paired with traditional Canarian architecture. There are small guesthouses and apartments within walking distance of the old town where you’ll get real Tenerife flavour away from big crowds. It’s also a great season to explore Teide National Park without the midsummer heat.
