La Torre del Mirador
Tenerife
Perfectly situated seafront restaurant on the promenade backing the beach of Playa del Duque near the Hotel Bahia Del Duque.
The superb La Torre del Mirador restaurant is only reachable by walking from the El Beril complex or from the other end of Playa del Duque in Fañabe. Passing strollers will merely eye a favourable spot to sit and watch like-minded walkers. The terrace seating area does provide the best tableside views over arguably the south's best beach. But to leave the praise at that would be missing the point. With such an advantageous position, even if the food and service were below par, which it isn't, the place would be jam-packed throughout the day regardless.
It's therefore a credit to the management that standards are high in both regards. The menu is extensive with meat, fish and rice dishes - personal recommendations include Beef fillet skewer with almond croquettes, and Shoulder of lamb Segovian style. There are plenty of lighter alternatives for midday, including a number of 'boards' with selections of hams, sausages and cheeses; for us, picky food in warm sunshine with a fabulous view is lunchtime nirvana.
The food is delivered thoughtfully presented and with surprising haste considering the size of the restaurant. A little exploration will uncover nearly a dozen inside rooms all decorated to different styles. Downstairs, the outside area is reserved for evening meals, with a side order of light entertainment on hand most nights, if that's your thing. Also downstairs is a little bodega, with regular entertainment and dancing in Tenerife.
It's actually quite hard to fault La Torre del Mirador day or night. If you don't believe us, check out one of Tenerife's best restaurants yourself.
If you're looking for a restaurant for a special meal in Playa de las Americas, why not try La Torre del Mirador's sister restaurant, Garibaldi.
