Restaurante El Sol

We don't know of any restaurant on Tenerife that has been open for 40 years under the same owner and Chef except the French Restaurant -  Restaurante El Sol, established in Los Cristianos in 1974... we think that says it all!

Most restaurants these days claim 'influences' so as not to be 'stereotyped', this restaurant and its owner, Jacques, are French through and through. It's dishes, wines and customer service are what you'd expect to find in a traditional French countryside; chicken in Arles sauce, meat fondue, Beef Bourguignon with six homemade sauces to name but a few.

Once you've finished the main dish, enjoy some of the fine wines on offer but be sure to leave room for Jacques' FAMOUS desserts. The apple pie and cream is my personal favourite. Oh and by the way, Jacques may just insist you try a dessert and we suggest you take him up on his offer...

Attention to detail goes beyond what is on your plate. Ponder the menu as you wet your appetite with a traditional Kir Royale aperitif, a mixture of champagne with different liqueurs. End the meal with lemon, almond or apple pie. You haven't experienced a true French restaurant until you've been to the El Sol. Vive la France!

El Sol is always on the agenda when I come to Tenerife, in fact, this was my 7th visit to the restaurant and it never disappoints. We were welcomed by chef Jacques who is a character. We had our usual bread and sauces (the chicken liver parfait was amazing) then opted for steak and chicken with a selection of sauces and creamed spinach and REAL french fries. We obviously didn't leave before being coaxed into a pudding.....warm almond tart....FAB!!! The bill came to €55 which included a litre of sangria so it's very good value for money. Can't wait to return for my 8th visit.
