Meson Castellano is one of those places that looks nothing from the outside but delivers specatacularly where it matters - on the table. Situated on a row of busy bars/restaurants between Las Americas and Los Cristianos, this restaurant excels itself on fine Spanish gastronomy from tapas to the fish, rabbit, lamb and steak. The decor is very busy, matching the atmosphere so may not be the ideal choice for the romantics looking for somewhere quiet to whisper sweet nothings all night.
The wine selection is out of this world. The restaurant claims it's one of the best in the whole of Spain. While that might be stretching the truth a tad, it's certainly a damn fine effort, with labels from all over the country, including the very best in locally produced wine such as a fine Monje or Vina del Norte Reserva.
All in all this a fantastic choice for lovers of leg of lamb, Spanish gastronomy and splendid plonk. Do yourself a favour and make the effort when in Playa de las Americas or Los Cristianos. Highly recommended.
