Description
Get ready to enjoy an experience in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where history, symbolism, and mystery intertwine in every corner of the historic center. This is not just a guided tour: it is an invitation to see the city through different eyes, to interpret what many overlook, and to immerse yourself in a hidden story that has left its mark on the squares, sculptures, and key buildings of the capital of Tenerife.
We will meet in Plaza Weyler, one of the city's nerve centers. There we will begin with an introduction to the Masonic universe: who they were, what they sought, what their role has been in the history of the Canary Islands and, more specifically, in Santa Cruz. Meanwhile, I will show you the first hidden symbols found in this square.
From there, we will walk to the City Hall of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, one of the most important institutional buildings in the city. Here we will talk about its history and the people who were involved in its construction, many of whom were linked to Masonic lodges of the time. Also, right in front of it, we will analyze the Bank of Spain building, an architectural gem that also features symbolic elements that are not accidental.
We will continue our tour towards the Plaza de los Patos, a square with a charming name but deeply symbolic content. We will observe its ceramic benches decorated with historical markings, the design of the central fountain, and the surrounding area. Here, Masonic symbolism becomes more evident, and also more interesting for those who wish to understand how urban planning becomes a coded language.
Next, we will enter García Sanabria Park, possibly the most fascinating point of the tour. This park hides a veritable 'symbolic board' within it, with paths reminiscent of the game of goose, sculptures with mythological references, coded messages, golden proportions, and a careful layout that refers to esoteric thinking. We will spend more time here, as this is where most of the symbolic meaning is concentrated and it is also the ideal place to enjoy the surroundings at your leisure and let everyone interpret what they see, with a tour guide but without any restrictions.
Finally, we will end the tour in front of the Masonic Temple of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the only one of its kind in Spain that is still standing and whose façade is a visual manifesto. I will tell you the story of its construction, its architectural symbolism, and the social impact it had on the city at a time when talking about Freemasonry meant doing so in a whisper. In front of this imposing façade, which looks like a fortress of hidden knowledge, we will end the tour with a collective reflection and time for questions and comments.
This tour does not require any prior knowledge of Freemasonry. It is designed to be informative, accessible, and historically accurate.
