This interactive world of optical illusions is one of Tenerife’s newer family attractions, with more than 60 illusions spread across 350 square metres. It’s indoors, air-conditioned and designed for adults as much as children, making it a handy addition to the list of things to do in Tenerife when the sun gets a little too enthusiastic.
*****Absolutely great time spent in absurdia, so much laughs had by us . Lovely young man helped sort payment out and a lovely young lady came around with us to help & took photos of us together which really helped. Cannot fault this place it’s definitely worth a visit.
*****First time here, my husband, myself and our stepgrand daughter had a great time, from the minute we walked in to the minute of walking out we made to feel very welcome, the staff were friendly & helpful. We had such an enjoyable time, we would recommend this to anyone to pass 30-40 minutes, we had such a laugh and great time, will definitely go back. Thank you guys.
*****Amazing! All the illusions were incredible had us laughing in hysterics! Roman was fantastic and helped guide us round each illusion! Such a brilliant place to visit.
*****Went as two adults and we really really enjoyed ourselves. The staff are extremely attentive and on hand to take photos of you on your own phone so no extra cost for pictures. Also they've lined up all the best places to stand to get the best viewpoint. This is the kind of place we'd normally come to with our daughter for her, but I'm so glad we went without her.
The basic idea is simple. Things aren’t quite what they appear to be.
Visitors can walk on ceilings, balance above an apparent abyss, disappear beneath the ocean, flee from a dinosaur and find themselves confronted by multiple versions of themselves. Elsewhere, light installations, projections, mirrors and visual trickery merrily interfere with depth, perspective and the usually dependable laws of gravity.
And yes, cameras are positively encouraged.
In fact, half the fun is taking photographs of each other doing ridiculous things. The Trickart Gallery puts visitors directly into the scenes, so rather than simply looking at an exhibit, they become part of it. Expect plenty of cries of “stand there”, “move your head a bit” and “no, that looks completely wrong” before discovering that, from the camera’s point of view, it looks completely right.
That makes Absurdia particularly good fun for families. Children can throw themselves into the silliness while parents discover they’re not quite as grown-up as they thought. But this isn’t somewhere adults need to borrow a child to justify visiting. Couples, groups of friends and anyone with a weakness for strange photos can have just as much fun.
A typical visit takes around 75 minutes, although there’s no need to rush. Children under three enter free, and tickets can be bought online or at the door. Advance booking isn’t normally necessary for groups of fewer than ten, although there may be a wait during busy periods.

Absurdia Tenerife is on the second floor of Fañabé Plaza Shopping Centre in Costa Adeje, with nearby free public parking as well as paid underground parking. Most of the attraction is accessible to visitors with disabilities.
For anyone searching for something different to do in Tenerife, particularly an indoor activity that works with or without kids, Absurdia is an easy one to add to the list. Go with friends, take the family, charge the phone and prepare to take far more photographs than intended.
