The aptly named 'Royal Delfin' excursion boat in Tenerife was custom built to provide passengers with the best possible experience for viewing the 21 different species of whales and dolphins in the island's waters.
However, as you would expect of a boat that sails from the Puerto Colon marina in the main resort of Costa Adeje, it offers its guests an all round experience. With a capacity of 200, the Royal Delfin is one of the largest Tenerife whale-watching boats to venture off the coast of Costa Adeje, ensuring lots of space for you, your friends and family. The catamaran hull cuts easily through the waves so you can enjoy the smoothest sailing possible.
Thankfully Dolphins and Whales are creatures of habit so the experienced captain knows where the 'star performers' are to be found in the vast expanse of Atlantic Ocean - around 2 miles offshore! With plenty of access around the deck, seeing 'our friends' on the surface is easy. Couple this with the panoramic underwater viewing areas and you have a unique opportunity to watch them above and below the waves.
A knowledgeable guide is on hand to talk you through the species present on the day. Make sure you have your camera at the ready to capture that 'wow' moment!
Thrill over - for the time being - relax on the large sundeck as you proceed up the coast to the 'land of the giants'... Los Gigantes, where towering vertical cliffs plunge straight into the ocean. Their majesty cannot be appreciated (or seen for that matter!) except from the sea so this is a rare opportunity to take in what nature is really capable of.
Lunch is served at anchor in the sheltered bay of Masca although you can help yourself to beer, wine and soft drinks throughout trip. Follow it up with a swim and a snorkel in the 'big blue' and you're ready for the return leg of your journey.
Heading back you will see that the south coast is not just 'one resort after another'. Its craggy facade is interspersed with picturesque bays and small fishing harbours all set against the spectacular backdrop of Mount Teide. Inland, small towns and villages pepper the high foothills with their distinctive white houses.
Entering the haven of the marina you feel that you have achieved some of those little ambitions in life... a leisurely cruise off the coast of an Atlantic island, observed whales and dolphins in the wild¸ seen unique volcanic scenery... not all boat trips are the same.
NB : The Royal Delfin sails from Puerto Colon, Costa Adeje, close to the heart of the main resorts and although it has a large capacity, this popular Tenerife boat excursion often gets fully booked. To avoid disappointment we strongly recommend you reserve a place using the E Mail above(right).
